Labour

Labour department enforces labour legislations, protecting the legitimate rights of workers and ensuring their welfare, so as to   maintain a congenial labour environment, leading to speedy   economic growth and prosperity. Eradication of child labour, enforcing legal metrology act, providing rehabilitation assistance to the rescued bonded labourers and provision of social security to workers are some of the predominant activities of the department.

The labour Department is mandated to enforce various labour legislations enacted by the centre and the state government. Assistant commissioner of labour (enforcement) in the district level assisted by deputy inspectors of labour and assistant inspector of labour conducts inspections and organizes special drives periodically in order to ensure that the objects enshrined in the statutes are complied by the various establishments and statutory requirements related to the rights of workers and interests of the consumers are protected.

The Deputy inspectors of labour/ Assistant inspectors of labour are assisting the Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Enforcement) in the enforcement of various labour laws and legal metrology act, for protecting the interest of the labourers and consumers.

The stamping inspectors are also protecting the consumers by verifying and stamping the weights and measures, which are used for commercial purposes.

BONDED LABOUR The Subject of Bonded Labour has been transferred from Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department to Labour and Employment Department vide Go.Ms.No.44 L & E Dept, dt.10.03.2017 Identified and rescued Bonded Labourers shall be provided Rs.20,000/- as immediate relief based on first information report (FIR),enquiry report and Release Certificates. In this district after the subject of bonded labour transferred from Adi Dravidar Department from Labour Department, Three Rescued bonded labourers were provided Rs.58,000/- (Rupees Fifty Eight Thousand Only) as immediate relief.ERADICATION OF CHILD LABOURThe District administration is in the forefront in ensuring the rights and welfare of children. The state adopts an integrated multipronged approach for elimination of child labour. The Child and Adolescent labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986 and the Allied Acts prohibiting employment of children in this district by the Inspector of Labour. New Amendments are also implemented with effect from 01.09.2016.

A Multi-Department District Level Task Force is functioning under the Chairmanship of the District Collector to reinforce the enforcement activities in the eradication of child labour strict enforcement provisions of the Act plays a pivotal role. During the Last year 1143 inspections were conducted and four child labours are identified and further actions were followed as per the Act and the identified child laborers were handed over to child welfare committee, krishnagiri for further course of rehabilitation and education. For Awareness Generation at District level The International Anti Child Labour Day is being observed on June 12th Every Year.
