Social Welfare Department

Social welfare and women empowerment department is functioning for the welfare of the children, women transgender and senior citizens. Especially functionaries are focusing on the areas to improve the status of women (Nutrition, health, education and economic empowerment. Moreover awareness creations on importance of girl child marriage consequences of child marriage Dowry prohibition act will pave the way towards healthy community.

The following schemes are implemented to help women and girls below the poverty line through the Department of Social Welfare

PUDHUMAIPENN THITTAM : New

According to the order of hon’ble chief minister of Tamilnadu, on behalf of the department of social welfare and women rights, Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar memorial higher education guarantee scheme is providing monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1000/- Through 05.09.2022 video Hon’ble Chief Minister of TamilNadu Mr.M.Stalin in the presence of Hon’ble Delhi Chief Minister Mr.Aravind Kejriwal who attends the function held at Bharathi Women’s College Campus as a special guest, Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Scheme was launched by Department of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights.

05.09.2022 in Dharmapuri District was held under the leadership of the District Governor at the Government Arts College, in Art hall in which 5389 higher education students who are benefiting from the first phase of the innovation girl program were given rs.1000/- per months a Financial support. Pudhumaipenn scheme login website: https://www.pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in Beneficiary student under this scheme are studying in government schools from 6th to 12th standard and in higher education in government colleges or private collages in different types of higher education such as medicine ,engineering ,science education, technology education , law education Rs.1000/- is given monthly.

Schemes for Poor and marginal sections of the community – marriage Assistance Schemes

1. E.V.R.Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Poor Widow Daughter marriage assistance scheme :

Under this scheme poor widow can apply 40 days or one day advance from the date of marriage in ‘e’ Centre .

Guidelines :

  1. No educational qualification required to get benefit under Scheme I Rs.25000/= Thro ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.
  2. For Degree and Diploma Rs.50000/= thro’ ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.

Documents Required :

  1. Age Proof 18 Years should be completed at the time of marriage for the bride 21 for bridegroom..
  2. No income limit.
  3. Nativity Certificate
  4. Community Certificate
  5. Bride educational qualification certificate ( TC and Mark sheet )
  6. Marriage Invitation
  7. Family card Xerox.
  8. Widow certificate issued by Tahsildar.
  9. Aadhar Card.

2. Annai Therasa Ninaivu Orphan Girl marriage assistance Scheme :

Under this scheme orphan girl can apply 40 days or one day advance from the date of marriage in respective ‘e’ Centers

Guidelines :

  • No educational qualification required for Rs.25000/= thro’ ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.
  • For Degree and Diploma Rs.50000/= thro’ ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.

Documents Required :

  • Age Proof of 18 Years should be completed at the time of marriage for the bride 21 for bridegroom.
  • No income limit.
  • Nativity Certificate
  • Community Certificate
  • Bride educational qualification certificate ( TC and Mark sheet )
  • Marriage Invitation
  • Family card Xerox.
  • Destitute girl certificate issued by Tahsildar or Local MLA Or Local MP.
  • Aadhar Card.

3. Dr.Dharmambal ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage assistance Scheme :

Under this scheme widow who got remarried can apply within six months from the date of marriage at ‘e’ Centers provided widow should complete 20 years of age at the time of remarriage.

Guidelines :

  • No educational qualification required.Rs.25000/= thro’ ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.
  • For Degree and Diploma Rs.50000/= thro’ ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.

Documents Required:

  • Age Proof of Bride Groom should below 40 Years at the time of remarriage.
  • Death Certificate of 1st husband
  • 1st Marriage Invitation and 2nd Marriage Invitation
  • Widow certificate issued by the tahsildar.
  • Nativity Certificate
  • Community Certificate
  • Bride educational qualification certificate ( TC and Mark sheet )
  • Family card Xerox.
  • 1st marriage certificate of bride groom.
  • No income limit.

4. Dr.Muthulakshmi ammaiyar Ninaivu Intercaste marriage assistance Scheme :

In order to remove caste barrier in the society this scheme has been implemented. Intercaste married Couple can apply within two years from the intercaste marriage at ‘e’ Centers provided one of the couple should belong to ( SC/ST) and other should belong to (BC/FC).

Guidelines

  • No educational qualification required for Rs.25000/= ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.
  • For Degree and Diploma Rs.50000/= ECS and 8 Grams of Gold.

Documents Required:

  • Age Proof of Bride and Bride Groom.
  • Marriage registration certificate.
  • Community Certificate
  • Bride educational qualification certificate ( TC and Mark sheet )
  • No income limit.

5. Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme , 01.08.2011 Onwards……….:

Scheme – I

The family who are having only one girl child along with sterilization done by one of the parent without male issue will get benefit under scheme I. Rs. 50000 is deposited on this girl child by Government.

Scheme – II

The family who are having two girl children along with sterilization done by one of the parent without male issue will get benefit under scheme II. Rs. 25000 is deposited on each girl child by Government.

Scheme – III

The family who are having one girl child during first delivery twin girl children in the second delivery along with sterilization done by one of the parent without male issue will get benefit under scheme III. Rs. 25000 is deposited on each girl child by Government.

6. Cradle Baby Scheme:

Cradle Baby Scheme is launched in Dharmapuri District in 2002 (13.04.2002) with a view to eradicating female infanticide. In Dharmapuri the cradle baby centre is located in Government Head Quarter Hospital premises.

First female baby bearing the address Selvi, W/O Sithan, A.Zettalli, Nallampally was surrendered by parents. She is the fifth female baby for that family and she was surrendered on 13.04.2002. The baby was handed over to the Sr.Pauline Swaminadhan Holy Apostles Convent Chennai adoption center.

1463 female baby was handed over to paramareikum karangal adoption center which is located in Tiruchegodu Namakkal District. She is the third female baby belongs to Lakshmi Devi, W/O Kaliappan, Santhapettai, kullampatti, Krishnagiri and she was surrendered by the family.

Child Marriage Act-2006

Child Marriage Prohibition act a first Social reform issue which will pave towards healthy community. Child Marriage has many effects on girls’ health increased risk during pregnancy, delivery pre-mature birth and death of neonates, infants and mother.

Domestic violence Act-2005

The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to protect women from Domestic violence In Dharmapuri District 876 received right from 2010. The victims expressed the reasons behind this includes verbal harassment, liquor intake and not looking after the family and extra marital relationship timely counselling and follow up given, after getting the concent of the girl the case will be filed against the person and action being taken by court.

Dowry Harassment Act-1961

Dowry is a social evil which is effecting the society like disease. An act to prohibit the giving or taking of dowry. Right from 2010-11til now 111 petitions received action being taken on this.

Senior Citizens Act-2007

Maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens act 2007,The main objective of this act is to provide food,clothing,residence,medical attendance to the elderly people. Petitions received from them are forwarded to RDO for necessary action.

One Stop Centre., TOLL FREE NO : 181

One Stop Centres (OSC) are intended to support women affected by violence, in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, Sexual, Emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, Education Status, Martial status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressed. Aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch – hunting who have reached out or been referred to the OSC will be provided with specialized services.

  3. Psycho social support / Counseling
  4. Legal aid and counseling
  5. Temporary shelter for Maximum 5 days
